NIL keeps players not the coach. Plus it’s not December yet. Recruiting means nothing till December
@gatobait87, your comment implicitly acknowledges that OM is better than UF in this scenario. Not to mention the number of OM players that are seniors or going into the draft. My point on the logical argument is also how UF cannot afford to wait until the post season is over with the transfer portal and runs counter to the timing of any hiring. Lets also not forget that the NCAA is sniffing around the UF program currently along with the Jalen Rashada lawsuit. Kiffin already had to deal with that at USC and after OM. Doubt he will deal with it a 3rd time.
Money? OM is prepared to match any offer Kiffin would receive. Resources? OM's collective is a premier collective in CFB. UF' ceiling is the same at OM. 10 years ago, yea UF is a better job, but not now. In this era its a lateral move at best. Also logistically it will not work. The transfer portal, and only transfer portal opens on 12/9 and closes 1/7. The first College playoff game is on 12/21. Assuming OM makes the playoffs or is in contention to do so, you think CLK is going to leave for UF when there aren't any players at UF or the ability to recruit to transfer before 1/7/25? Logistically your argument doesn't make sense, and this is 2024, not 2014. The facilities and resources argument holds no water in the NIL era.
Its funny how people think CFB jobs are bigger/better than OM. You think CLK will go to UF with the Jalen Rashada lawsuit going on and its impact on UF's NIL? Not to mention the NCAA sniffing around? CLK's daughter is sophomore at OM, his son Knox is going to school in Oxford. You think UF is going to shell out more than $11 million a year to try and get CLK while paying the buyouts of Napier ($26 million + assistants) and still paying Mullen's buyout? 5 years ago UF was better than OM. But not now. OM can be a perennial playoff contender and with title hopes, that is the same ceiling at UF. Nice try though.
Napier won't get fired after this season due to how daunting their schedule is plus Napier's buyout. Napier's buyout is 25 million after this season not counting assistants. Plus add in 10 million a year K to get Kiffin or any prominent HC at another program? Not happening.
Napier will get another year. His buyout not counting assistants is $25M coupled with what you would have to pay for a new coach. He will get one more year.
Go back under your bridge troll. You’re out of your element Donny.
Weak NIL? What are you smoking lol
UT fans in the comment section really are the obsessive ex-girlfriend when it comes to CLK.
It was a mutual decision as the SEC most likely heads to a 9 conference game schedule.
This is such weak journalism. There are no insights to spring games. If a team doesn’t have a stellar season it’s not because of a teams’ evaluation uncovered or not covered in a spring game.
I agree. There is no point to it. The playcalling is very vanilla, base defense, etc. Players risk injury, coaches do not get anything out of it for evaluation purposes. A spring game in April with training camp 4 months later does not add any value. Players get miffed at where they stand when a depth chart is released, increasing the likelihood of bolting to a new team. I don't think there is anything to gain from a team development standpoint for the upcoming season.
Looks like Connor didn't do his homework again as OM is not doing a spring game and making it more like the pro-bowl.
I'm not surprised Auburn sources would say that. Additionally, no attorney would advise their client that hey we are going to start this rumor about your marriage to help your case.
I remember when AU fans/booster falsely accused Harsin of cheating on his wife with a AU staffer then hired Freeze.
Washington lineman Buelow is committing to OM as well.
History doesn't matter anymore. Going to UF would easily be a lateral move or a downgrade based on the work he would have to do. Additionally, thinking the transfer portal in year 1 would automatically make UF a powerhouse is absurd. More resources? OM just unveiled their revamped facilities worth tens of millions to renovate. More NIL, MS puts out more NFL talent per capita. Furthermore, a coach doesn't need to be within the state to have an advantage in recruiting. Ex. Univ. of Miami
He didn't flip to Louisville. Some of his credits wouldn't transfer to OM so he became academically ineligible. It was out of OM's hands. Do better SDS.
I cannot believe the amount of people think Kiffin is a candidate, it is laughable at this point. Also shows how the SDS writers have zero sourcing and just create articles for click bait.
Anyone who thinks Kiffin is a candidate is misinformed. Yes the Bama fans would be excited to have him, but the top brass do not want him. The power brokers at Bama are same ones that were present when Kiffin was let go before the title game and Kiffin went to FAU. They do not want Kiffin. Additionally, you think Saban just retired randomly without a plan in place? You think Kiffin would be portaling so hard if he knew on the down low that he was going to Bama, the answer is no. Also, Lanning is in Tuscaloosa right now, so there's that.
No, Ole Miss was not willing to pay him what he was asking for, big difference.
Not a massive wrench and this was not a surprise to the OM staff and contingencies were already in place. He was good as gone before the peach bowl. Dart wanted Lane to take a timeout during the peach bowl because Q was fighting with O-line in the huddle and wanted him out. Word was Q is becoming a locker room problem and approached GC 3x to renegotiate his NIL deal. OM said nah fam, look a Walker Jones most recent tweet.
Who said the offer was made directly to him. Its now called pre-portaling, literally has its own term. Everyone is doing it and I doubt it will constitute a serious recruiting violation.
I think Zach Arnett could be in the mix.
Low energy reporting. LK also makes close to 9 mil a year.
