Paul Finebaum points to ‘significant’ impact of Auburn’s win over Kentucky
We are going to have to put it together again Ron, otherwise I'm with you. Vandy is legit.
If we can play clean, and establish the run, we have a chance.
Been less concerned about our defense of late, but Pavia picked it apart last year. Would love for us to find a way to redeem that with a win here.
Anyone else got UGA v. Oregon for the natty?
Well, Auburn, when you reach the bottom, at least there’s only up from there
Fair point.
With a win over this Georgia team, they would be well on their way.
If UGA shows up in the first half, the game is theirs for the taking. Texas will just need to play clean to stay in it, but I don’t know that I see them beating a UGA team that plays for four quarters.
Bama v. Tennessee comes down to QB play. Whether Milton or Iamaleava plays the better game will determine the outcome.
The AU v. Mizzou game 27-17 pick sounds reasonable, as much as I hate to say it. If it were in AU… it wouldn’t even matter like it has in previous seasons. For AU to come out on top, this would have to be the most complete game we have played this season.
MSU hangs with TAMU (either that or TAMU deserves more attention.) uSC OK, I could see going to OT. Florida beats UK, home field advantage. Vandy keeps rolling.
This might be the best weekend yet in terms of slate. Enjoy, gents.
If Texas wins, they are 2019 LSU.
First year Saban would like a word. :D
This game feels like it’ll be similar to the UGA Bama game, with the exception that Georgia actually shows up in the first half. Scary one for Texas.
If Texas wins it, they are basically 2019 LSU in my eyes.
This was harder me to predict. Then realized it’s quite simple.
This game is Milroe vs Iamaleava. Whoever plays their better game wins this one.
I’m just glad AU didn’t find a way to lose our bye week.
Nice thread til it got weird there at the end. :-D
I agree, cleanest game in recent memory.
Congrats on the win.
Is this a basketball headline? Not even sure if that’s less shocking, on second thought. I didn’t see this one coming.
I’m with you.
This should be a lot more competitive in the coming years, but for today’s game in Athens, I’m not seeing us being in for a good time.
Even better that it puts our class at number 3 in the country.
Yes sir! He will fit right in.
> If that habit isn’t broken by sophomore year in college, it becomes part of what they are.
This feels so true for our case, it actually made me chuckle. For a sixth year senior it is good and baked in. It might be about taming it at this point.
All that said, miracles do happen, and AU has experienced their fair share here in CFB land. Maybe Thorne can shake it, by some miracle.
Intriguing stat-line Foots. It doesn’t surprise me as much as I thought it would to see that.
If I were a Bama fan, I probably would have been jump-spinning along with Ryan Williams during that last catch, to be honest
For sure. I typically find myself standing on big 3rd downs. Like, I don't know when I stand up, I just kind of find myself standing, lol.
That is a good point.
I am hoping Saban's Most Improved Player rat poison about Thorne has a reverse effect and actually comes to pass, no pun intended. OK game showed it is at least possible.
Well, I hope the light at the end of our tunnel is as bright as y'alls appears to be -- Also I hope it ain't a UGA and/or Bama shaped train.
Haha, Truegrit I didn't say it was working
This. I actually enjoyed the heck out of most of this game. Gave me a good idea of how competitive we can be if we can start clicking. Right now it's a bit "if" but maybe it's shrinking slowly.
As an Auburn Alum of 16 years, I keep repeating to myself "The night is darkest just before the dawn."
I’ll be surprised if AU wins, but more surprised if it’s a blowout.
Unfortunately I have to keep my “War Eagle Anyway” locked and loaded these days.
Soon enough we will get it together.
Glad you guys are alright. Helene wasn’t playing around.
AUSouth, this is the sensibility that I hope permeates more of our fanbase. Let’s keep our eye on things like being a top 10, maybe top 5, recruiting class next year and even higher the following. We have to crawl before we walk (again)
I was honestly starting to think it wasn’t actual Auburn fans spreading disunity and discontent among the Auburn faithful so quickly into the season. Is it a bummer to lose in spectacular fashion so early? Yes indeed. But like you, I’m not onboard with continuously scrolling the coaching wheel and never getting our program back on its feet, which takes time when done right.
There are other programs that would love nothing more than for us to stay down in the dumps indefinitely.
Been really impressed with Heupel. He was just what the doctor ordered for ole Rocky Top.
Did y’all have the talent deficit we do, though?
Character aside, looking purely at strategy, I’m starting to wonder if CHF is just future-focused. Seems as if he is ok with 3 or 4 years of “just get the talent.” He’s darn good at that, he’s shown.
He knows (a) you can’t win in the SEC or even compete without the talent. (Our biggest rivals are perennial top 2 teams. Yikes) — He also knows, I believe, (b) fundamental soundness is key.
I’m thinking (hoping at least) that he is sacrificing some of b, up front, for a. Then to better establish b once a is in place.
Maybe he didn’t realize the short term would be this bad, along with the rest of us.
Never realized he wasn’t on there. That is a plus
If he can make it happen, it will surely boost a Heisman campaign. A lot at stake for both teams.
