unfortunately that's so- gotten wait for the new prez- Stricklin seems to favor west coast connections - Golden is from Cali Thornquist unexpectedly retires in October and stricklin picks Nilsson from Pepperdine - stricklin's pick to replace shelton, Steinberg, also has a Pepperdine background - he played for Pepperdine
This is the third set of serious allegations against a head coach during Stricklin's eight-year tenure. This plus the hiring of a loser FB coach at $7.5M a year should cause his dismissal
Fuchs isn't going to fire scottie - we can only hope that the new prez does so quickly. There also the sudden, unexpected resignation of Thornquist on 7 Oct - retirements usually come after the end of the season
napier goes 5-7 with the next 4 losses being decent and beating fsu, he's back - another $7.5M for OJT - stricklin's getting no pressure from the interim prez to fire him
Lagway does not have to beat Georgia - the fire napier talk has died down around Gainesville - napier goes 5-7 and he's back next year, unless it's a bad beat down by Georgia
For starters, Miami is straight-up great – so losing to the Canes continues to be contextually easier to swallow. Ditto with Texas A&M, which is on the verge of a Top 10 ranking of its own. Bringing these up just bolsters the case for firing Napier - Cristobal is also a third year coach who inherited a mess - Elko is a first year coach who turned around a moribound program - somehow these coaches can do it and shows that Napier isn't in the same league as them
fire wommack and get a real dc - yeah the swarm defense doesn't swarm
where's the impetus to fire napier going to come from, even if he goes 5-7? stricklin? no way unless the boosters threatened to revolt - napier goes 6-6 and he's back - he goes 5-7 (he'll beat UK and FSU since both have awful offenses) you really expect stricklin to fire him?
exactly - where's does the impetus to fire come from? Not Fuchs - Stricklin would be admitting that he was wrong again. and with Mertz done Stricklin has the excuse that napier had to play a freshman qb. The bull gators? maybe if the team goes 4-8 Napier goes 6-6 and I give a 95% probability he's back he goes 5-7 and beats FSU I say 50% - 60%
awful way to end his gator career - Mertz is the protagonist of this football season
if Florida had beaten UT, even with a 6-6 record Napier gets another year - Kentucky is beyond awful on offense so the Gators should win this one and also FSU - if Florida can beat Texas or Georgia, I see Napier getting another year. If not, and beats either Ole Miss or LSU, does Napier get another year? does a 6-6 napier come back next year? I think he does.
you shot yourself in the foot - If Napier is as bad as everyone says he is and Heupel is as good as everyone thinks he is. Why did UT have to go to overtime and barely squeak out a win against a Napier team with 100,000+ fans in Neyland helping you out? thanks for bringing up 6-0 miami, which is also coached by a third year coach - obviously then that third year coach is superior to our third year coach - napier also lost to a first yeat aTm coach - so what's the next excuse - more patience?
what happened to Nico - can't even hit wide open receivers down field
Mertz is a class act - unfortunate way for him to end his collegiate career - wish him well and hope he makes to the NFL - he would also be a good college coach
someone needs to wake up Nico before the game - 158 passing yards Gators will do the same that Arky did last week - control the clock - Arky had the ball for 36 mins to 24 for the Vols
6 wins is certainly possible - FSU and then TN, KY and LSU, at least two of which are winnable Napier goes 6-6 and he's back if Lagway sticks around - if Lagway goes, then Napier is gone If Lagaway stays, then 8-4 next year. I see Napier here at least two more years
The mean of the sampling distribution will be equal to the mean of the population distribution - which has been 6 for the two previous seasons Gators could easily win 6 games - FSU for sure , and TN, KY, and LSU are winnable Napier reverts to the mean of 6 and he's here next year, assuming that Lagway returns. If not, then Napier may be gone. If Lagway returns, Napier could easily be 8-4. CLT tells me napier is here for at least 2 more yeras.
The D Vandy keep the ball for 42 minutes, turned Pavia into Johnny Football, and gave up 67 pts in the last six quarters - Wommack is woeful - no half-time adjustments - did the clown even watch game film of Vandy's O?”
Last week the Buffs also manhandled ucf - so still too early to say that the season has been turned around -jefferson's still the same lousy passer that he's always been but now he's even slower - he looked like an old man out there - we'll see how things go at rocky top and if nico wakes up by next week
no way the Gators should lose this game - UCF was torched, at home, by Colorado - until the UCF games the Buffs had close games with every team they faced (including CSU) except for the blow-out by the Huskers - the Gator passing game should as good as TCU's - this should not be a close game for the Gators
'cuse has a football team? sure this wasn't bb?
the defense did have 2 stops on fourth and goal at the 1 yard line, otherwise, the score would have been 45-42 to put this into perspective WKU beat Toledo yesterday
amazing - napier built in his own job security - since he's oc and calls plays, there's no one on the staff who could come in and replace and install a new system - if he were to be replace, then it would have to be done during the bye week - but it won't happen unless the Gators somehow lose to MSU, which is impossible
Fuchs has said that he wants out by July 2025, and he was never going to fire stricklin. I worry that napier may be around longer than people expect - just a couple of weeks ago stricklin said that napier was his man and expected him to be HBC for a long time - stricklin has written checks for napier's multiple of additional staff demands - not a good look for him to fire napier. unless the boosters will demand it or the team loses to MSU or UCF napier could be around in 2025
oh pleez $7.5m is pretty plum - napier makes more than Venables -napier has it made for life
I don't see UF losing the next two games (no team is worse than MSU) , in which case, since Napier is still the HC, there would be no excuse to fire him. unfortunately, stricklin will be doing the hiring. Fuchs won't hire a new AD. Fuchs told the trustees he wants to retire by summer 2025 and he has said that he expects the new prez to be chosen by mid-2025
there's a bigger problem here - and it's stricklin - the prez hires the AD and it's unlikely that interim prez fuchs will make any change - so stricklin will be making the decision and who has confident that the third time will be a charm
elko and his old man football - no offense aTm -Gators should be able to score more than aTm
I don't see how the Gators can lose this game - aTm is offensively challenged and can only run the ball - so the Florida DCs can easily scheme the defense - the Gator run D is pretty good. aTM dbs are questionable and aTm hasn't faced a dual threat qb like Lagway
the trouble with Faurot Field is that the stands are too far back from the field - there's the track, then the hill and then the stands - UT (the real one in Austin) remedy a similar problem by digging down and adding more rows of seats
