Florida fans roast Billy Napier following awful first half against Texas in Week 11
Losing that streak would be terrible optics after the AD’s statement. Of course he’s got bigger fires to put out with Golden and co.
Since this is basically a betting site, what’s the over/under on terrible calls benefiting Miami in the second half?
I suspect the thought on the FG attempt was Napier knowing he’s not winning this one and trying to secure the scoring streak early
Iirc BYU has had older college players for years. The guys destined to play football at BYU go on their mission for 2 years after high school and all get sent to places with great gyms and football training opportunities.
I think this should fail because, as others have alluded to, NIL isn’t pay for play. But I expect the NCAA to fold like they did with transfer rules, which similarly if NIL isn’t pay for play it shouldn’t matter where or even if you play.
1: It is interesting timing since the complaint is like 6 weeks old. That said it would make sense for the student paper to do some due diligence.
2: Never heard of a couple’s story being he pursued her, she kept ignoring his advances, he sent an unsolicited picture of his junk, she falls for him. Usually ends up more like this or Brett Farve or Anthony Weiner. Just seems sad.
3: Hope for Napier’s sake there’s no pictures like that of him floating around for an unhappy booster to find.
Yeah they regularly suggest using a robot dog instead.
Uga lives better than most people I know.
I’ve said the decision would depend on the administration situation rather than performance. Fair point on the other article about the potential future costs of revenue sharing. Probably smart to make the announcement now if that’s the decision to hold off any possible transfers. Yeah they get their own window if Napier was fired after the regular window closes, but by that point most teams have already grabbed their needs out of the portal.
I don’t think Beck is throwing more INTs because he’s throwing more. He tends to throw a couple early, creating a situation where he has to throw more to make up for opposing points off the INTs. In the Florida game his first 2 were around pass 15 and 17 and the end of the 1st quarter and start of the 2nd.
I think the real reason he’s throwing more INTs is that last year he had Bowers and McConkey to throw to if the play broke down and now he’s not used to really doing check downs.
Looks like the ACC has gotten away with rigging games for Miami. That’s what I expected but it would have been hilarious if the committee had said, “Yeah the refs blew those calls, probably on purpose, so we don’t care what the ACC/NCAA says, we’re counting the real losses.”
Aren’t they set to make the SECCG if they win out given the tiebreakers?
The conference commissioners pick who gets drawn from. The conferences are heavily involved in media deals. They ain’t making the list unless they understand what they’re there to do. Several of the members are active ADs.
Stoops seems to think he’d do better with more resources, but the UK boosters say they already bucked up and now they want to see some return.
My impression has been that Napier isn’t really the factor on if he’s fired or not, the administration is. A clear replacement makes the call easier, but how much faith is there that Striklin can actually make a good hire?
Let’s be real, this is a for-profit deal. The committee will absolutely tinker with the rankings to try and get the most views. There’ll be enough wiggle to justify how they do it and frankly it’s not like a belief by some fans that there’s massive conspiracies going on will hurt the ratings.
That’s what I excepted when I heard we weren’t doing a home and home.
If a team goes 10-3 after a loss in the SECCG they have to get in the playoffs over any 10-2 conference teams. Otherwise who’s gonna want to risk it play for the championship if a win gets you a bye but a loss kicks you out when you’d have gone if you hadn’t played.
That’s what I was trying to get it. Napier goes I think Lagwag does too. The Etienne comment was more about the possibility that, if Napier is fired, this is Lagway’s last Cocktail Party as a Gator, but not his last Cocktail Party. Kirby has nothing against bringing in former Gators.
Didn’t Spurrier offer Kirby as a preferred walk-on? Made the decision to play at UGA easier.
May depend on if the boosters think they can fire Napier and still keep Lagway. Big fear should be that he goes the Etienne route.
Is Napier on the UGA staff too if he’s fired? Or does he have to go to South Carolina first?
I’d say give it to Bama with the head-to-head. But I can see the committee still going with the eye test. I can also see them bouncing a bubble team from another conference to cram both in.
SEC champ and runner up get in. We could likely end up with another 11-1 team. If 1 10-2 team gets in it won’t be Bama if the other team is Tennessee.
Even beating LSU, Bama probably needs help. Winning out won’t guarantee they get in.
That’s . . . different. Wonder how well that plays in the locker room.
Computers are truly amazing. No human would ever come up with those numbers.
OSU had to step it up in the most insufferable fan base competition.
Plenty of people revert to stats because there’s no way anyone can watch every college football game. Padding the stats hard against cupcakes helps a lot when making an argument that a bubble team is really a contender.
3 ranked games and solid stakes in the other should make for a good week of SEC football.
As I recall the SEC let a previously suspended officiating crew officiate a national championship game. ESPN could demand it but I bet the suits think the bad officiating helps viewership. So the only thing that would stop this is if the gambling sites decided to stop taking bets on SEC games due to bad officiating.
