Congratulations Coach Pope and company!
Come on man... it's SDS. They're too busy writing stuff about the ACC and even the B10 to worry about All the SEC. If you're not one of the top 4 teams in the conference, then good luck with coverage. I think they have slighted Vandy all season. Good luck with the rest of the season.
Congratulations on the win Vols. Win or loose, I'll still back my Cats.
Okay, here's something that no one has mentioned: the health of the UK team. Here is the injury list BEFORE the Auburn game: Jayvant Brown | LB | Out Maxwell Hairston | DB | Out Darrion Henry-Young | DL | Out Jantzen Dunn | DB | Out Gerald Mincey | OL | Out Josaih Hayes | DL | Out Tavion Gadson | DL | Out Chip Trayanum | RB | Out Demie Sumo-Karngbaye | RB | Out Take a look at the positions: 6 of 9 players listed as out are defensive players, including their best DB Maxwell Hairston. The Cats also lost starting outside linebacker JJ Weaver at the end of the first half, defensive back DJ Waller Jr. early in the third. Their best DL Deone Walker was listed as questionable during the week, so he might not have been at his best. NOW, that said, this is the SEC. If you want to win you have to be able to recruit and develop at a level where you can build quality depth through your second string, and even into the third string. This just hasn't happened at UK for a number of reasons: NIL, low number of in state high-level high school players, lack of tradition, etc. On the offensive side of the ball, I think there are several issues that are causing the extremely poor offensive output: 1) new OC this year, 2) new OL coach, 3) not enough depth at the OL that was developed at UK (I sometimes question how long it take an OL player who transfers in to really become effective), 4) QB issues: neither of the 2 transfer QBs have been that impressive, 5) injury issues at RB: UK's two best RBs were out for the game and the RB that had the majority of carries (25) is a true freshman. All of those combined are a recipe for disaster in the SEC. Those are not excuses, but just real facts. I don't see the Cats getting the necessary 6 wins this year to get bowl eligible. This is just my opinion, but I think Stoops gets a pass this year based on the injuries and new coaches, BUT if next year's results are similar, then I don't see him remaining at UK. I would like to hear real responses from UK fans (and knowledgeable other) on what they see as the major issues and Stoop's future with UK.
That's nice. Here's something that might be of help to everyone: Jayvant Brown | LB | Out Maxwell Hairston | DB | Out Darrion Henry-Young | DL | Out Jantzen Dunn | DB | Out Gerald Mincey | OL | Out Josaih Hayes | DL | Out Tavion Gadson | DL | Out Chip Trayanum | RB | Doubtful Demie Sumo-Karngbaye | RB | Out Deone Walker | DT | Questionable Keeshawn Silver | DL | Probable D’Eryk Jackson | LB | Probable
The ACC should have it's own site so they can focus exclusively on ACC stores. Many of the ACC fans don't care about the SEC teams and that is okay. I still don't see a story about Vanderbilt's win. But that is typical SDS, they don't always report on All the SEC.
Well, since SDS hasn't posted a '3 Takeaways from Vanderbilt's Win' and the game has been over for about 4 hours, I just make my post on this article. Congratulations Dores. It looks like you guys got the right HC. Good luck the rest of the season.
This is an SEC site and still don't see anything about the Vandy win.... but, oh look some ACC stuff.
Good to see that young man back on the sidelines with his team later in the game.
I'm a fan of the Tide, but it was great seeing your fans storm the field. Next week in Lexington looks real interesting.
And for we UK fans... looserville LOST. Yes, the cardinals red is fading pink again! l's DOWN!
Man, they are dancing in the Villes tonight... first it was Nashville and now it's Fayetteville! Congratulations to both teams on great victories.
Congratulations to Coach Pittman and the entire Hogg nation! WOOO PIG SOOIE!
WOW! Congratulations Vandy. Hey Stoops and company... I hope you were paying attention tonight, otherwise the Dores might pull a USC on us next Saturday.
Man isn't that the truth KY Blue. When Ole Miss got the ball back late in the 4th, I said 'watch them go down and sore with 20 seconds remaining.'
LOL... that's funny PTR. Thanks for the laugh.
I see your out making friends again with our SEC brothers and sisters.
Congratulations Coach Stoops and company! Keep grinding, keep working, the season is far from over.
No, I am not comparing the two coaches. What I trying to convey is some people will criticize any coach, even a coach like Saban, for any play call that doesn't go their teams way. Stoops probably felt he had the best chance to win by putting his strongest unit out there and trying to get the ball back with enough time to score, but it didn't work out. Saban thought the field goal attempt was the best option, and it didn't work out. As for the four win season, we don't know how many games each team will win. I think UGA will be in the playoffs, and I have no clue as to what the final win total will be for the Cats.
Could you please post your SEC coaching win/loss record for us?
So if Stoops goes for it on 4th down and doesn't make it, then the same people would be shredding him for going for it. He trusted his defense to get the ball back quickly and it didn't work. I'll admit, I've never coached even a Pop Warner game... but how many of those critics have coached a football game? Maybe a few of them have, but make sure you tell me you coaching record in the SEC before you start running your mouth about the call. I remember Coach Saban deciding to kick a long field goal at Aubrun with one second left on the clock. Any of you armchair coaches ever hear of the 'Kick 6'?
Congratulations Dawgs. Even in a loss, I'm still proud of my Cats for the way they played and bounced back from the SC game. A few plays here or there and it might have ended differently. Good luck the rest of the season UGA.
Say what??? Quick, someone call the National Weather Service and have them send some lightning within 8 miles of the stadium while we've got the lead.
57939names, I have been off the Cal train for about 2 to 3 years. That said, I would still rather keep Cal at least one more year than Pope. I honestly want Pope to do extremely well, but I just have a bad feeling on this one. I hope we don't have another mess like the Billy Clyde Gillispie years.
This is just my take, but if Pope is hired and it turns out bad, UK might be looking for a new basketball coach AND a new AD. Mitch... I think you had better be right on this one.
