“Our tiger, our live tiger, unfortunately, disappointingly, was the only tiger who showed up Saturday. I’m sorry,” that's certainly a dig.
there's a still a decent probability that nd could drop 1 of their remaining 3 with army and usc remaining on their sched. 2 weeks ago i was pretty confident that the sec would max out at 4. that was of course with there being 2 undefeated big 12 teams, 2 undefeated acc teams and a 1-loss clem. now, with where the dominoes have fallen since...i'm seeing more of a decent chance of 5. both a&m and uga would need to win out, as well as om and bama, while tx and tn could only spare to lose to a&m and uga respectively. now, of those 6, which 5 gets in would lead to some fun debate.
"...Dawgs, who have 1 home loss since the start of 2017." dawg fans have been pretty spoiled. people currently 2nd guessing cks is a little silly.
Well, you’re clearly starting some talk. railoa and his family wanted....were looking for a genuine opportunity that their son would compete for a starting job in 2024 and essentially be handed the reins in 2025, as they wanted at least 2 yrs of tape. you think cks should have conceded to the raiola family? that's what you were saying last dec....when beck was 12-1 as a starter and raiola flipped his commitment? is that what you were saying last spring when beck was being pushed as a top up and coming qb prospect for the 2025 draft? how about this summer when beck was receiving all of the preseason accolades? you were the one of one who had this intuition? beck has regressed. beck has no confidence. the uga wrs have dropped an alarming # of balls. there’s clearly little chemistry. etc, etc. that's all true. but, there were no obvious or even faint signs that such was on the horizon. cks made the right call in going with beck and letting raiola walk. everything supported that decision. to suggest a notion of hindsight now is foolish
as of this post, half of the comments are sharing a level of frustration that o'gara went outside of the sec footprint with this article. geez. it's a cool story. iu is 9-0. they're a 2-td fav against a team that we all know skirted the rules last year. it's newsworthy...and the impact of this game...and the remainder of games for iu will play a big part in the ultimate selection and ranking of the cfp. there....there's your relevance to the sec.
"When Sasse left it created a vacuum. I understand Sasse leaving due to his wife’s health." Wife's health? I'm sorry, i can't let that go. he's a total d-bag and never once had the univ's interests at heart. look no further than the school's newspaper. any ire at napier or stricklin is misplaced....as the whole current influx situation at uf is derived by the fact that you have a temp administration running the school...of which is the result of a crooked, former school pres
right. and that's just one of the 'exclamation points' in highlighting that they saw what they wanted to see.
uga fans know all too well about the 'bad karma' you reference from the games in the 2000s. '02, '03, '05, '06 and '10 immediately come to mind.
beamer is certainly presenting a strong sell to keeping all of the local talent in-state. everyone knows that was one of the hallmarks of the glory years under spurrier with beamer heading the recruiting. outside of that '22 game against tn, i can't recall any serious upsets pulled off by beamer heading into this season, but he's certainly been beating on that door this year and just knocked one down. gonna find out a lot about who om and uga are...and aren't in this week's game.
"Would Texas drop as far as No. 9 — and then be forced to play an opening-round Playoff game on the road, essentially punished for making the SEC Championship? It’s possible. In fact, I’d say it’s likely that a highly-ranked loser of the SEC, Big Ten or Big 12 championship games will end up traveling for its first-round Playoff game." this is where we've got to have faith that the human element of the committee comes into play and doesn't allow such to happen....barring real data supporting such.
nice! this is an article that i was wanting for the lead-up this week, but i'll take it for afterwards. a well written article by a gator fan outlining what they saw and their takes from the game. you saw a qb connect on a deep ball and saw that as a foreshadow of likely continued success going forward. i saw a perfectly thrown ball, while i also saw 1-6 for 3 yds outside of that pass. you saw a qb generate a 4.75 ypc avg and what i assume as a likely forecast of a number of forthcoming successful qb draws. i saw the same successful runs, but i also saw a really hard hit on his last run before the fateful run where he likely tore his hamstring. prior to that run, there were 3-4 other called read option plays where he could have taken the ball and run, but opted not to. his last run was after a collapsed pocket where he was forced to run. my view, after that hard hit on his previous last run, he wasn't interested in running any more...so that part of his game would have been removed and he would have been more one-dimensional. maybe a one-dimensional lagway could have been uga, but taking away the run option of a 230 lb qb leads to a very different story than what i think had been created in the minds of a number of gator fans, had he not been injured in the game. we're also not even mentioning the addition of two uga starters in the 2nd half, of whom had been kept out of play in the 1st. but that's the fun in this. the gator fans have their take-away and the dawg fans have their take-away.
and still, no official statement from birmingham in taking a disciplinary action to the officials or responsibility for the incident. publicly punishing the officials or outlining a plan in future prevention wouldn't have likely prevented these two later incidents, but it would have at least acknowledged a public ownership of the mistake by the league. instead, sankey and birmingham have been silent and only concentrated in shelling out a fine to the univ of texas
i don’t think you understand how incredibly impressive a 55-29 record is ats….especially in handicapping yourself in just picking sec games.

yeah, the success rate of the deep ball seems to heavily favor the gators over the dawgs...especially for the 1st half and what uga will be missing. no reason for napier and lagway to not start the game with a heavy dose of go routes
i know it's not your style to write up an antagonistic article on this rivalry, especially considering the current states of the two programs, but come on....it's ga/fl week. sprinkle one in
lucky for him it was such a talent disparity that the crowd could do little to make-up for the disadvantage
kiffin could have had a stronger point had his team beaten lsu. om may beat uga, but the lsu/bama match-up is the bigger draw.
a lot of fan bases can take advantage of a night game and generate a better atmosphere, but you're underselling that there's something more in br. as a whole, i'd state that the lsu fans are the rowdiest
@jtf. agree. @TDOW, you said, “A 1-loss UGA makes the play-offs regardless of missing the SECCG; if UGA wins out they don’t drop from their current #2 ranking.” i'm simply saying that they'd stand no chance to finish #2 or even in the top 4 of the cfp rankings...in the scenario that jtf mentioned. the top 4 spots are reserved to the conf champs of the p4 conferences.
right, but the truth right now is that the big 10 appears just as deserving of 4 teams as the sec, so in essence, they cancel one another out for consideration of a 5th team. the other 4 spots look to go to 2 acc teams, nd, big 12 champ and the g5 team. unlikely, but the acc could potentially get a 3rd team in over either the big or sec getting a 4th.
"A 1-loss UGA makes the play-offs regardless of missing the SECCG; if UGA wins out they don’t drop from their current #2 ranking." you're incorrect. in the stated scenario of lsu and a&m winning out, uga would drop out of the top 4...
i wonder if this will age as well as the kenny trill heisman push? big time test in columbia with that defensive pass rush.
"It’s great to finally have a coach who understands that you need the whole team and is willing to make the hard choices to get a win. " right! even with the exodus of that 2022 draft class, it's scary just how much talent is still on this team and ready to come in. reed was other level type stuff last night. i can't help to also not think about the fact that we may not have even seen him last night, had henderson been healthy. so much talent on that roster....and you finally have a hc looking out for the greater good of the team. seeing what reed did last night, i can guarantee you that reed and a&m caught cks' attn in athens.
that'd be hilarious if this mizz team somehow won on a tiebreaker involving other 6-2 teams within the conf. immediate tiebreaker changes would be on the horizon for 2025
