Journalism can be compared to batting in baseball. Sometimes you hit a single or a double or a triple or a HR. And sometimes you strikeout. It's a job with daily deadlines. The articles are what they are. The journalist was chosen because of his/her overall talent. Who among journalists, is/was the GOAT? If there was one then he/she had a lot of strikeouts along the way.
Hilarious: 12. Arkansas (5-3, 3-2) 11. Florida (4-3, 2-2) 10. South Carolina (4-3, 2-3) Does anyone else notice something?? Me thinks the author's dislike for Arky (he's a Mizzou grad, right?) is showing. Oh well. Keep on, Adam.
Where is the accountability? Our actions are to bring that, obviously. And the accountability must fit the violation. Yet that concept is the very thing that is lacking with some of the posters here. Some are saying, "They're just kids." Others are saying, "They're old enough to serve in the military and to vote." So Yes, they are adults and they need accountability. And not the accountability that comes after some speeding drunk driving accident. At this point they all know that they're just going to get a slap on the wrist. The "violators" will apologize, say 10 Hail Mary's (so to speak) and promise not to do it again, but then they'll just be a little more secretive about it. IMO
Sure, Coach Key is trying to make chicken salad out of chicken stuff, but let's be real, at least he's using better ingredients than the last guy. I mean, banning red ink? Was he trying to protect the team's fragile egos or just avoid grading their performance? And doing push-ups on the field after scoring? That's like celebrating because you managed to tie your shoelaces without tripping. Coach Key might not be promising to make Kirby his personal errand boy in three years, but hey, he's aiming for consistency. If he can keep GT ahead of Georgia State and Georgia Southern, he’ll already be an upgrade. Give the guy some credit—he’s trying to revive a program that’s been flatlining. At least he’s got a pulse and isn’t writing love letters to mediocrity.
It's great that a highly skilled (even if he's white) rookie gets recognized. Too bad that isn't the same attitude that the WNBA has with Caitlin Clark.
Just an observation that Arkansas likes to brag that since the state doesn't have any pro teams that most everyone supports the Razorbacks. No pro team? But that team is paid almost like a pro one divvying up $6-7 mil. Much better than the B pro leagues. Oh well. Sign of the times and no turning back, I reckon.
Let's see. Calipari is 65. Barnes is 69. Not a lot of difference. Oats is 50. A lot of difference. We'll see if Calipari is effective at Arkansas. One thing I like is that he doesn't seem to get caught up in talking negativity too much. Too old, I reckon.
The majority of the Razorback fan base is not on social media.
"The former Arkansas QB entered the portal after a few frustrating years with the Razorbacks, highlighted by a stellar 2023 campaign." That statement is not accurate. Accuracy in reporting is necessary. Jefferson and a few stellar years but the 2023 season was far from that. The Offensive Coordinator was a bad fit and KJ was injured a lot. Sharpen up the accuracy in your writing skill, Mr. Stone. Otherwise you're good.
Arkansas is having problems raising the NIL ante, and the word is that if Jefferson returns his NIL would actually be reduced. I don't see him coming back for that. He has been a trooper for the Razorbacks.
KJ Jefferson is expected to transfer by most Arkansans. He's waiting for something big and it would be a good place for him. Arkansas just signed a transfer QB Green and they still have an experienced one in the QB room plus another 4* redshirt Freshman. As always, we'll see.
All of your predictions are just opinions, and usually biased. Petrino ate some serious humble pie a while back at the LR Razorback Touchdown Club meeting. Evidently, his infamous episode took his opinion of himself down a notch or so. Good. Obviously, only time will tell if he is successful as OC. Pittman likes to pick the brain of his hires, unlike the former A&M coach. They both will be scouring the portal for the right help. The quarterback room is not empty if Jefferson leaves. For what it's worth, Pittman and Petrino are about the same age. IMO, things are looking up. Why judge a person after they have expressed sorrow for their wrongs? What's the point of holding the past against Petrino? Oh, I get it. If he doesn't work out you get to say, "I told you so." That's being small-minded.
Agreed. Sam's a pretty good coach. But the NIL is apparently the key. At least until some entity gets control of it. IMO, it's just not right that big pocket teams should get the better players. I'm for more equality, and I think most people agree.
We see the same thing here daily. The vitriolic comments. The cutdowns. The just plain meanness of speech. Here, what has happened to just disagreeing? No. Some have to name call and disparage others. And of course, those would say, "If the kitchen is too hot then leave." Well, making comments and disagreeing is part of democracy, the way I see it. But why do some have to be mean-spirited about it? Probably a sign of the times, huh.
^^^ And Milton but no KJ Jefferson??
Adam, IMO you're too much a "homer", and it detracts from your overall good journalistic skills. Mizzou isn't higher than 3 of the 4 you have listed higher. But then, opinion is opinion. But, base it on more than wishful thinking. You might (probably will) blast me for this, but then, that's my observation.
IMO, that comment sounds like none of those high-caliber players have risen like cream yet.
"I would not be in the position I am in today without the hand of God watching over me and for that I am forever grateful to be able to grow my relationship with him each and every day." Quite impressive to some of us.
I reckon it could be said, "Bama was at the wrong place at the wrong time."
I'd wager that Conner and the rest of SDS staff have a lot of fun looking at the comments of guys that get all slathered up at their personal opinion articles. That's all they are: personal opinions that get you guys to name-calling and degrading one another. But, I suppose that's part of the design of sites like this, and there are plenty of guys who are willing to participate, even including me, at times.
“Technical” aspects of the law aside, the look for the university has been shaded. Until this issue is thoroughly confronted and dealt with with no look of whitewashing, it’ll be a hay-day for opposing coaches in recruiting. From my understanding UA prides itself on a totally above-board reputation, but the handling of this incident has a certain odor to it, to this point.
Wasn't there some "disrespect issue" about AU stomping/dancing on the Hog logo before the game? AR took exception to that. Perhaps rightly so.
Broyles was a very successful Razorback coach when he became AD. Was very endeared w/ all of Arkansas. Prolly the difference between Greene and him.
IMO, AU needs an admin and/or AD who will rule w/ an iron hand, so to speak. At Arkansas, AD Frank Broyles did it and kept the Razorbacks mostly on an upward trend, back in the day. He ruffled some feathers but got the job done, by most standards. As long as there is the pulling and tugging by admin vs boosters (and media), nothings gonna work for the best.
If Petrino's team beats Pittman's this fall he'll be on several team's 'A' list.
"The NCAA does not have any rules that restrict boosters from paying athletes as long as those payments are not directly for their athletic performance or an inducement for recruiting purposes." Boosters have always been the X-factor in recruiting and NIL has now legalized what was previously a nefarious activity. There definitely needs to be better rules in place, if rules can make a difference.
You said it: Greed begets Greed. Don't think that will end anytime soon.
Sounds like a little jealousy there b/c no Miss game is listed. AR is up and coming. Cin is there, or was at least in the playoffs. So, ppl expect a good game. Top 10 game.
"This time it was Cincinnati, the Group of 5 darling who, let’s face it, didn’t deserve to be in the Playoff (no Group of 5 team does, inherently)" I tend to agree. I wonder if the polls could be less personal-favorite oriented. Is that really possible? Like, they need to factor in strength of schedule. Cincy doesn't come close in that area. (They won their "playoff" in beating ND.) In that vein, no Group of 5 deserves to be in the Playoffs. Just saying.
