Wasson: Jaxson Dart quiets naysayers (and Georgia) to deliver an Ole Miss win for the ages
Remember when Texas beat Michigan and that was such a big statement game? Look how that turned out lol to be fair, same thing for Tennessee and (at the time ranked) Oklahoma
Maybe but I doubt it. UT has a much better defense than GT. If you have an offense problem that doesn't bode well
I'm not saying this is what happened at all, but sometimes after heated arguments between HC and player they'll list them as out the rest of the game with an undisclosed injury. Again, I'm not saying it's the case, but it wouldn't be the first time.
I love this narrative around Vandy this season. Unless your team is playing vandy, does anyone not pull for them to get another win? You'll hear comments for other teams like "i don't care if (insert team) wins, I really just want (insert other team) to lose. I've never once heard that said about vandy. Everyone rooting for them to win and I'm here for it. Go Commodores! Keep on winning, until you play us!
Such interesting, so article, much wow.
Nobody cares. Just another Ohio state team playing in the nobody cares conference where everyone is below average
Don't put that bad juju on us
You guys are exactly one good quarterback away from being at least an 8 win team. Sucks not to have one when the other aspects click
I don't know why announcers keep touting the bye week as a good thing. I know it helps players get healthier but I have yet to see a game where a team coming off a bye doesn't come out looking half asleep (this isn't just us, I've seen it from multiple teams). It's been a negative more times than not, and I'm glad we don't have any more of them
Our kicker has been fairly reliable. Just had a bad game. If a QB throws 3 errant passes he can redeem himself, if you're having a bad day as a kicker you don't get do overs. Even our great punter had a few that were not his usual today. I'll reconsider after 2 games like that but give the kid a break
The problem is there's just no accountability really. Officiating crews need to be fined for blatantly missed or incorrect calls. I don't just show up to my job and every day mess something up, I'd very fired. But in officiating there's very little that's ever done
Couple of things.
1) Whoever the refs were took the over on total penalties
2) Williams had an absurd amount of targets. At least pretend like you're throwing to someone else
3) Nico looked like he had taken lessons from Joe Milton on all those over thrown passes that would have blown the game clear out
4) When in doubt, just give it to Sampson. I'm biased but I do think he's the best RB in the league and possibly country, but we waited until the second half to actually use him
5) We actually have a decent record entering November and I still have no idea what to make of us. We're by no means the best team, maybe top 3 in the SEC (debatable now given the rise of LSU and TAMU), but are we a playoff caliber team? I still don't know. I think Georgia will be the final litmus test. When our offense comes alive I do think we are one of the most complete teams in the country, but our offense has been dormant for half of the last 3 games. But when it gets going, and with our consistently good defense, we look not just playoff caliber but potential title contenders. I just don't know right now
Yes. 1984 Bama lost to UT and Vandy same year. That was the last time
I mean at this point I truly think Vandy has a good shot at beating anyone in the SEC, so that might be a trap game. Man what episode of the twilight zone are we living in where that's a reality now
Offensively I (kind of) agree with this article. Defensively? Awaka and Estrella absolutely handled Edey. Pretty much as good as you can when the refs aren't calling any fouls at all. JJJ was also on him at one point and didn't let him get to the rim at all. I've never seen such an unathletic guy get so much media praise for shooting 22 free throws and then saying "well the supporting cast didn't help". Well the supporting cast was the refs, and nobody on Purdue did anything to help either.
Looking now that NC State beat Duke, which would have been the better matchup for us than Duke, makes this sting even more.
Seriously just take the T out of your profile, it's clear you don't want to be a fan anymore. I'll wait.
AUSOUTH exactly. We'll be here for the highs, and we'll also be here for the lows. Disappointing as it was since we had such a great team, it was still one of the best seasons we've put together since Bruce Pearl was our coach. Be upset about a loss, but pack it up altogether if you're only in it for the championships. You aren't doing these kids any favors by saying you only support them if they win
Then stop. We don't need bandwagon fans.
Most scouts aren't even really looking at Edey as a first rounder, let alone a number one overall
There's a bit of hot hand fallacy that goes into that, same reason why Purdue kept feeding Edey. Knecht was hot, why fix what isn't broken? Let the guy with a good shot keep playing. JJJ had what, 3 shots and made all of them, Zakai was approaching on another round of 10 assists yet again, everyone except Aidoo did their job I think
For sure, he earned every bit of that standing ovation when he finally came off the floor. Aidoo would have dominated if he had Estrella's mindset coming into this tournament
I think Zakai got away with one on a ball screen towards the end throwing up an elbow. That was about it though. Everything else all Purdue
No Shaq was athletic and could man handle anyone. Edey stands flat footed. Point out one moment where he actually made an athletic move that wasn't a simple drop step
Aidoo just crumbled at the wrong time. He played scared against Creighton because of their big, I don't know why Barnes thought it would be any different in this match. Credit for taking him out and not putting him back in when a skinny freshman Estrella played better minutes than him
Man I hate to see them go out like that. Friendly fouls were killer, and Purdue stuck to the gameplan of dish it to Edey, hope he hits a one foot hook shot two inches for the rim or hope he gets fouled. Hey if ain't broke don't fix it I guess.
Edey had 40 points. Am I the only one who still doesn't see what the media sees in him? Call me biased as a UT fan, but even watching him in other tournament games i just do not get it at all. He's 7'4", of course he's gonna be the first hand on the rebound, he's gonna draw fouls...outside of that, he's not really athletic, missed easy shots....he's going to be a bench rider in the NBA when Knecht is making headlines. He got the job done for Purdue, but I still just don't see why people think he's so good. He's obscenely tall and gets fouled a lot. Is there something I'm missing here?
Thanks! Not over yet, hopefully we can get by enough schools and you keep wining to have an SEC 3rd rematch with Bama/UTK. That would be epic
yeah except watching 7 footers isn't really all that entertaining, like cool you jumped 2 inches and dunked it. I want to see a 6'4" guard posterize someone more than i want to watch 7 footers duke it out for whose arm is longer
Congrats to the Tide! I know a lot of people don’t agree with being general SEC fans, but I was pulling hard for you as I’ll be pulling hard for you against UConn. I would absolutely love a Bama/UT national championship game, it would silence a lot of the people who talked about our league after the first round
Mostly the Lady Vols with Pat Summitt
ZZ is the glue that is holding that team together. I like the title here, DK is the headliner but without ZZ the Vols would likely have unraveled completely last night. He reminds me a lot of mid-late 2000s Jason Kidd.
