Oklahoma takes lead over Mizzou after wild sequence featuring RB touchdown pass, defensive score
Oklahoma trailed Mizzou 16-9 late in the 4th quarter on Saturday night before scoring 2 quick touchdowns to take the lead.
First, OU tied the game thanks to a trick play. Running back Taylor Tatum found quarterback Jackson Arnold for an 18-yard touchdown pass to make it 16-16 with 3:18 remaining.
That was Oklahoma’s first touchdown of the night, as the Sooners settled for a trio of first-half field goals before finally finding the end zone. Here’s a replay of that big moment:

Then, on Mizzou’s ensuing possession, Oklahoma took the lead after safety Billy Bowman scooped up a fumble and returned it 42 yards to the house. That big play gave OU a 23-16 advantage — its biggest lead of the night.

This is a crucial game for Oklahoma. The Sooners would clinch bowl eligibility with a victory on Saturday night and would be in danger of not doing so with a loss. OU finishes out the season with games against Alabama and LSU. Oklahoma has not missed a bowl game since 1998.
Missouri also has a lot to play for. The Tigers still just have 2 losses this season and could theoretically get back into the at-large discussion for a CFP berth if they win out. Mizzou is also hoping to win 10+ games this year for a second consecutive season.
Welcome to the SEC Oklahoma where you’re a bottom feeder at best!
Hey Oklahoma – Alabama 34 Mizzou 0
Alabama 42 LSU 13 at “Death Valley”
Milroe and friends are coming and THEY are NOT Auburn
I don’t say this often and but it’s been a while since it was so clear, but Okie literally handed the game to Missouri. Reached out, said “here take it”.
These teams spent most of the game handing it to each other and neither seemed to want it. I guess you could say OU handed it to Mizzou at the end, but Mizzou handed it them first. It was incredible how the last 4 full possessions of that game were mirror images of the others.
OU possession – 75 yd OU td Drive.
MU possession – fumble, OU scoop and score.
MU possession – 75 yd MU TD drive.
OU possession – fumble, MU scoop and score.
OU possession – (19 secs and time expired)
About the only difference was OU’s 75 yard drive took a lot of time off the clock, Mizzou’s took less than a minute. On that Mizzou drive Burden and Theo Weise took over and grabbed it – nothing was handed to Mizzou on that drive.
