Nico Iamaleava out for remainder of Mississippi State game due to injury
Nico Iamaleava will not return to Tennessee’s game against Mississippi State on Saturday night due to an upper body injury, according to multiple reports.
Iamaleava appeared to take a hard hit to the shoulder while running the ball during the second quarter. Per the ESPN broadcast, this is the play that Iamaleava got hurt on:

Iamaleava was able to stay in the game for Tennessee’s next drive, but was pulled at the half. Gaston Moore is set to play quarterback for the remainder of this game.
It’s highly-unfortunate for Tennessee, as Iamaleava was having one of his best games of the season before going down. He threw for 174 yards and 2 touchdowns on just 13 pass attempts in the first half.
However, the Vols appear to have this game under control, so it makes sense that they wouldn’t want to risk further injury to Iamaleava’s shoulder. Tennessee took a 20-7 lead into the halftime break in Knoxville on Saturday night.
Tennessee is set to face Georgia in a pivotal game next weekend in Athens.
Season is over. Next week will be a 43-6 type loss we saw in the Jones and Pruitt years and then a close one in Nashville before trying to luck into a lower tier bowl. Get ready for basketball early.
Most TN thing ever but what else do you expect from this fraud program
I’m not saying this is what happened at all, but sometimes after heated arguments between HC and player they’ll list them as out the rest of the game with an undisclosed injury. Again, I’m not saying it’s the case, but it wouldn’t be the first time.
What the literal phuck would they be arguing over? That Nico has had his second good SEC performance? That makes no sense. This coach is the most tight-lipped in the conference with injuries so it’s much more probable that it’s resting a tweak or a more serious injury. Given UT football is cursed and we haven’t heard anything, betting it’s the latter. Said otherwise, be glad the basketball team looked decent today because football is over.
Truthfully, UT is good enough to beat MSU without him. Let him rest, heal, and be ready for next week.
All digging, picking and harassing aside, I hope his injury isn’t season ending and young Nico has a full recovery. Kid has a lot of talent and seems to be a good team leader. Wish him well.
