Lawd knows I've pleaded with him to do that, but when a man says he's comfortable there the only way forward is to keep begging and maybe enlist the aid of SOS.
Not so fast, Vato - I would have been FIRST but for every key stroke being moderated!
Understand, but with most of these guys you learn that what looks like teeth on a comment is just humor with a sarcastic twist. Took me a little while to figure that out too, but good men who are just frustrated like I am. Of course, I've been threatened with excommunication by more than one priest because I maintain that sarcasm is indeed a spiritual gift, so it must really be in the eye of the beholder. :) Any road, I enjoy your commentary and hope you'll stop by sometimes at least. I used to pop into the Georgia pages, but they told me I wasn't needed so I stopped the practice. Come to think of it, maybe Leghumper or you could give me a get-out-of-jail card? Being born on Ft Benning doesn't carry much weight since it's a federal reservation and after I left Ft Gordon the last time I didn't renew my passport.
As much as I like and respect the Tennessee glide path, this isn't the year they beat Georgia. May be close, but no banana this time.
Well said, Les. 13 years and 4 HCs so far, not to even mention 2 ADs....within striking distance of becoming a habit.
At least not sleeping in the barn anymore, so there's that. Glad to see you posting here again, thought you might have gone AWOL!
I honestly don't think it will be either, Sparky. This pothole filled road has been in place now since 2011, so I can't imagine it being on any certified studly coach's to-do list unless he's a closet masochist. The sun will come up again someday, I just hope I don't go tango-uniform before I get to see it. I'd post Rant #2, but think I'll take a nap instead. :)
No end in sight, JTF, but at least this one was written by a well-informed journalist who is not inclined to manufacturing drama.
While true that past performance is not a guarantee of future performance (it cuts both ways), it is still the obvious and most proximal choice to first weigh in deciding whether a decision is either a calculated risk (+) or an uncertain, situationally-wild-aff gamble (-). In assessing (a) two consecutive losing seasons, (b) the probability of a turd .... correction, third .... looming on the horizon, (c) a dismal recruiting class, and (d) the threat of the transfer portal resulting in existing personnel losses .... it is still difficult to properly determine here if this one is a risk or gamble. In that context, it could simply be a retrograde maneuver - that is, trading space for time to make a better decision when availability of a fully suitable replacement might be more favorable. No matter what it is, this entire situation stinks. Napier must go a minimum of 10-2 in 2025 to keep his and Striclin's jobs. If he does, regardless of their other fine virtues, I still wouldn't bet my paycheck on the Gator's future with these two in charge. I'd bet StL's, mind you, but not mine. Sure hope I'm seeing this whole thing wrong, but we shouldn't even be in the situation to begin with. END OF RANT, GO GATORS.
Marsh, if I had have had previous surgery, I would have probably busted every stich in me and even some I didn't have. We were actually looking for you the whole night, but it's no doubt better that you were otherwise occupied - I would have no doute wound up in the UF morgue from laughing myself to death!
I hope so, but it's best not to rush that type of injury even when classified as mild-moderate. If he's good to go, it should only be based on physician's recommendation. Duh.
Big fan of Rex, so I'll let him take the lead. Besides, last time I was in the Swamp 18 months ago with Nash and StL I wound up in the hospital for 2 days when I got back - so I'd probably jinx it anyway!
Me either, but that's just about the score in would predict too - we'll find out which one comes out on top. Liking both teams, games like this are hard for me to root one way or the other.
I think Berwin's comment that those optics were not well considered in UF's current context, but beyond that with Austin being as weirdly woke as it is we may find out that those cute cowgirls are really guys and Bevo is actually a Heffer.
That's exactly right - I'm impressed by Napier's overall humility and would be even more so were it to extend hiring a quality OC, but at the same time he's built a bubble around himself there. What worked in the GOF doesn't necessarily translate to the SEC.
Biden and Harris would have too, except Biden couldn't remember who he was or where Florida is, much less what the meaning of "is" is, and while he perhaps is an idiot he wasn't useful to Kamala. I'm beginning to think though that this story is a bit more complicated than we assumed at first blush.
Arkansas's joining the SEC years ago made sense both geographically and in terms of its great football history - so expectations were that it would be quick in reestablishing that. Sadly, in contemporary times it is not the only program to experience downward trajectory, but as you implied it only takes the university's full commitment to the sport PLUS better decisions in coaching selection to be one of the "haves" versus "have nots". CFB has always been cyclic, but in this day and age the die seems more easily set than it's ever been. Keep the faith, bud - sometimes that's all you can do.
That's one solution, Les, but turning the clock back to Year-Zero didn't work out too well for Cambodia either. :) Still, a house cleaning might be the best way forward if culpable individuals can be legitimately identified and due process observed in some form. Easier said than done though, and at the end of the day no further harm must be done to the institution - which may be very tricky indeed. Purges and resets are done all the time, but where does the authority sit to do that? The Governor? Ultimately, does everyone serve as his pleasure? Honestly, I see more complications no matter what is done, but that certainly doesn't mean nothing should be done. Serial black eyes are not good for a great and beloved university, that's for sure.
The essential due-process difference between Criminal Law and Administrative Law. I'm sure he will still be able to offer rebuttal information with or without counsel, but following conclusion the case may or may not be picked-up by law enforcement? The other question I have is whether or not, if found administratively in violation, is it the individual, institution/employer, or both who is subject to tort liability?
Booches, first ask an intelligent question. Anyone who doesn't understand the difference between (a) an invitation to join a conference multiple years after inception and (b)charter membership might not be able to do that, but I still have confidence in you if you put a little effort into it. Just don't get a brain cramp, OK?
Man, this is like dueling with a small caliber bore. Surely you can do better than that.
Easy - after a long night of partying, the SEC was meaning to invite Michigan. Due to a transcription error the next day, the invitation was instead sent to Missouri and unfortunately received before the error was noticed. However, upon being rescinded Missouri whined so much that it was left in place. Regrettably, that whining continues to this very day, now over anything having to do with college football. All in all, nothing but a huge mistake. You're welcome.
Ktalent1 - surely your lack of attendance for any and all UF sports will be not only sorely missed but also a real attention getter, but what are you going to do next if your demands aren't immediately acted upon? Hold your breath until you turn purple?
Interesting. You failed to add to your list of grievances that Sasse was (a) pending indictment on federal charges for Piracy on the Open Seas and, (b) known by state law enforcement to have simultaneous connections with both the Naz-i Party USA and BLM. Even more interesting is that I never mentioned politics, only referring to ideology. Apparently, that's your trigger word - thus I suggest you repair post-haste to your safe space since it may be used again.
GFA, I also think player buy-in is the key to both what remains of 2024 into 2025, and thus far we've got that in spades (so kudos to CBN) .... beyond that, the other key is 2025 recruiting, which right now is at a low ebb. At 4-5 with two tough games ahead (not discounting FSU but their implosion is nearly complete) we've got to finish at least 6-6 before the first signing day and 7-6 before the second. With some critical returns and Lagway healthy that is entirely possible absent brain cramps. Without a doubt, these back-ups have played admirably and shown tremendous grit against the odds. As we improve depth, the future is a lot brighter than even the most pessimistic among us see. I still worry about brain cramps and the injury rate/frequency, but overall, the forecast is positive. Should we not finish, I'm not sure.
Maybe we should schedule the next Prozac lick delivery for Deland instead of resupplying Gaga?
CBN has given us the core for a good 2025 season, if we can keep them (I'm convinced that's what the prophet Ben Franklin really meant in his famous 18th century quote). Finishing at least 6-6, preferably 7-5, would certainly be a plus in making that come true. GO GATORS!
