So lets call the two D's even. i think we have the edge but ga at home evens that out. Being able to legitimately say i think we have a better D than ga is a win in and of itself! So it really just comes down to the 2 offenses. i dont think nico plays if hes not 100% and there arent many privvy to that answer. If Nico plays I think we have the better offense. If gaston plays we dont. I like Gaston but hes been a career backup for a reason. We cant rely on pass interference penalties to move the ball... So for that reason give me the vols in a close one if nico plays and the humpers if he doesnt. Howevuh I still remember that second half for beck and the humpers vs bama and if they play anything close to that we are toast regardless of QB.

I think the D has proven they will show up. Its the UT O that needs to show up moreso than they have to date and in a big way.

Man it just feels so strange to see that bottom 5. Still a lot to sort out. look at all the teams that could and probably will finish 10-2. The crazy tie breaking system sankey laid out may not even get to two teams. it may end up with an arm wrestling competition between 3-4 HC's to see who goes to atlanta, not that it matters as much anymore... I dont have a problem with where TN is ranked. If we beat ga then we deserve a higher ranking but even with ga playing some of their worst football in the last 5 years or so its a home game for them, after a terrible loss on the road, with a cfp spot on the line. They have deficiencies that we should be able to take advantage of and for the first time in a long time we have the better defense. Hoping we take advantage but I would not bet on this game regardless of a point spread. i dont think there is a score, other than a UT blowout win that would surprise me. Funny I went from expecting Napier, Beamer and Pittman to be locks to be fired to none of those being fired and now venables and freeze in the biggest danger, with pittman still a possibility. Freeze probably survives one more season with that class he has coming in but that class wont do him much good on the field next season. Both he and Napier will be portal hunting early and often...

This wasn’t an unexpected result other than maybe the final score. The sec is nuts this year. Anyone can beat anyone, well almost. Beck is a head scratcher. He seems oblivious to what’s going on around the pocket. Like it’s impossible that o line will allow a rusher to break through. Then he will float a terrible pass into coverage for an easy int but follow it up with a laser into the bread basket for 20 yards between 2 defenders. He’s about as consistent as the weather. The D is most disappointing, from a ga fans view, IMO. Looks like they are coached by anyone but KS. I am worried how UT will perform while thinking this is the best chance for a W since the dobbs nail boot. We are who we are at this point. I hope our elite D will win the day because I don’t think our offense is good enough to win a shootout in Athens.

BK is just overrated as a HC. if orgeron can win a title at lsu then a lot of coaches can. LSU is too good a place with too many resources and great fan base to accept his mediocrity. Maybe he should start learning cockney so he can fake a British accent and go coach soccer in NW England. What a disappointment.

Seems like a pretty fair line. We will have as good a shot as we’ve had in the last several years but the qb and receivers have to be one. Hoping we see some of that tomorrow.

Doc keep in mind even if he gets a top 15 or so class in the country there will be precious little help for a couple years. I think stricklin coming out now with that was smart too. it may give some recruits a reason to get on board or even back on board. But no doubt he will need to hit the portal hard.

this is mildly surprising to me. I thought early on there was no chance he could survive. But what I did see in the latter games is a team that hasnt quit and was getting better each game. Lagway getting hurt was huge and I actually now think stricklin is right because if he can build off that latter success next season with a healthy lagway and some portal help they may be on their way back. with a new coach you just never know. Vol fans know that as well as anyone.

geaux im not so sure you can just chalk up the loss to ATM as not having prepared for reed. I didnt look at your schedule but didnt LSU play other similar QBs or were they all statues. ATM D, elko and other players deserve a lot of credit too. kelly is starting to remind me of richt. solid coach but struggles to win the big one. Just an opinion. maybe he will prove me wrong this week... Im told I need to pull for bama this week to help prop our SOS since okey and nc st stink. That will be hard to fake though. Other than bama, our best win, if we get it, will likely be vandy. Not the usual doormat vandy this year. They are pretty good and will be laser focused on the vols. who'd of thunk it.

yup the one that matters wont be for a few weeks yet. Ut controls their own destiny. just win, survive and move on.

I think the vols are one of the 12 best teams in the country but I think we have to win out to get in. Maybe if bama keeps winning and we only lose one more but sure looks like a logjam of teams will be at 10-2 and I question our SOS stacking up to others in a similar position. with okey and nc state turning out be pretty bad there just isnt much to hang our hat on from a competition standpoint. A win over ga even with a loss vs vandy would be one way to get in at 10-2, but neither of those games will be easy. if vandy keeps winning with their only other loss to UT then that might work too as they will be ranked higher than 24.

you and the other writers at sds continue to make the passing issues sound like all nico. They are not. He has absolutely been responsible for several overthrows prior to ky. But vs Ky I got exactly what I was hoping for from Nico. he had a beautiful day throwing the ball. He threw 3 perfect TD's that dont show up on the scoreboard and only show up as incompletions in the statline. 2 of those 3 passes were absolute gems that were were dropped by the receivers. The 3rd was also a gem that the ky defender made a perfect defensive play on. So its fair to say the passing game has struggled including vs ky but why not clarify who struggled in that game. Nico making that progress is a critically important step to our future games.

Congrats to Dylan. A truly gifted athlete, RB, teammate and person. I thought heup made a good call putting Lewis in and giving Dylan a chance for some perspective. He really responded when he came back in. I have also been anxious to see more of both Lewis and seldon. Lewis didn’t disappoint either. Very nice job on his first extended action of the season.

I don’t have any proyehere TN is and in fact could have them lower but how is tx 1 and bama 3. Why does Penn state fall so far when barely losing to OSU. ND is just gifted spots it seems.
