Mississippi State History
Mississippi State began its football program back in 1895. The Bulldogs were members of the SIAA from 1896 to 1921 and then joined the Southern Conference from 1922 to 1932. They were then inaugural members of the SEC in 1932 and have been in the league ever since.
Mississippi State has yet to win a national championship on the gridiron and has only won 1 conference title, which came in 1941. The program has not produced a Heisman Trophy winner, but has seen 3 consensus All-American honorees over the years.
Jeff Lebby took over as the head coach of the Bulldogs ahead of the 2024 season. He was previously an offensive coordinator at Oklahoma and, before that, an OC at rival Ole Miss. Can he lead the program back to heights not seen since Dan Mullen was in charge? Only time will tell.
