ESPN’s Football Power Index (FPI) predicts the outcome of each college football game every week.

After another wild week of action in Week 7, the model has updated its predictions for Week 8. Included in the Week 8 predictions is the SEC matchup between Kentucky and Florida.

The model likes the Florida side in this one, giving the team a 59.4% chance to pick up the victory at home. This means Kentucky has just a 40.6% chance to pick up the road upset.

These teams have had similar seasons in 2024. Both have looked impressive at times, but have also looked like bad teams. For example, Kentucky played Georgia close and upset Ole Miss but got blown out by South Carolina and lost at home to Vanderbilt.

Florida, meanwhile, got blown out by Miami and Texas A&M but picked up wins over UCF and Mississippi State. The Gators are 3-3 overall with a 1-2 record in the SEC, while the Wildcats are also 3-3 overall and 1-3 in SEC play.

In Week 7, the Wildcats fell 20-13 to Vanderbilt in Lexington. The defense played well again, but the offense was unable to move the ball consistently against the Commodores.

The Gators, meanwhile, gave the No. 11 Tennessee Volunteers a run for their money. The game went to overtime where the Vols were able to escape with a 23-17 victory.

Both teams likely see this game as an opportunity to stay alive for a quality bowl game. The loser of this game could have a tough task to go bowling, considering their remaining schedules.

The Gators still have to play Georgia, Texas, LSU, Ole Miss, and Florida State, while the Wildcats still have Auburn, Tennessee, Murray State, Texas, and Louisville.

These teams will kick off from Ben Hill Griffin Stadium on Saturday at 7:45 p.m. ET.
