Tyler Lockhart has decided to stay home.

The blue-chip linebacker from Winona, Mississippi announced on Thursday that he is now committed to MSU. He shared the big news on social media with the help of On3’s Hayes Fawcett.

The Winona Tiger standout is listed as measuring 6-3, 200 pounds. On the 247Sports Composite, Lockhart is rated 4-stars, the No. 4 player in the state of Mississippi, No. 16 linebacker and No. 125 prospect overall in the Class of 2025.

Lockhart drew notable interest. Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Ole Miss and Tennessee are among the 16 programs that extended scholarship offers during his recruitment.

Auburn hosted Lockhart on an unofficial visit on March 30. On May 6, Lockhart announced that he was verbally committing to play for Hugh Freeze’s program.

Though pledged to Auburn, Lockhart remained open to Mississippi State. On June 14, he took his official visit to Auburn. A week later, he took his Mississippi State official visit. A week after the trip to Starkville, Lockhart announced he was no longer committed to Auburn.

With Lockhart on board, Mississippi State now has 19 verbal commitments in its 2025 recruiting class, which ranks No. 31 nationally on the Composite.
