Billy Napier provides positive update on QB DJ Lagway
Billy Napier and the Florida Gators are coming off a tough weekend where they were dominated in Austin by the Texas Longhorns. The score was 35-0 Texas at the half, and the final scored ended 49-17.
Injuries at the quarterback position have hurt the Gators, as they were playing their 3rd string quarterback Aidan Warner. Graham Mertz started the season, but he was lost for the season with a knee injury.
That opened the door for freshman phenom DJ Lagway to play, but he suffered an injury during the Georgia game. While it looked like he may be out for a long time, the injury appears to be progressing better than anticipated.
With a game against LSU looming, Napier provided an update on Lagway as he prepares to try and be ready for Saturday.
#Gators coach Billy Napier said expects DJ Lagway to practice Monday. 'Worked him out this morning, and we felt good about what we saw. Does that mean 100%? It's day to day.'

“Worked him out this morning, and we felt good about what we saw,” Napier said. “Does that mean he’s 100%? It’s day to day.”
At 4-5, the Gators have to win 2 of their last 3 games in order to become bowl eligible. It is not an easy 3 games, as their next 2 games are against LSU and Ole Miss before taking on Florida State in the finale.
This is a story that will continue to develop throughout the week, but things are pointing in the right direction for Lagway.
I could be first probably, but I don’t want it.
I’m sick of the high stakes competition, the stress, the anxiety, the knashing of teeth, the cracking of knuckles, constipation. Need to spend more time with the wife and family, both of which I have not got. I need to make plans. I need to get this in there.
If I would have known being first was such a stressful chore for you I would have vacated all of mine
Never frgn fails…golf day and another G8r article released. Gonna have to get my pro to fire wanda, she ain’t trustworthy
Leeland has too much concern for what others think of the article and whether he interpreted it properly. I value your unaffected insights.
Lagway is indeed a phenom and we do need to win two of the last three to become bowl eligible and save some face kudos to the author for stating the obvious
“Does that mean he’s 100%?”
And CBN answers his own question…”It’s day to day.”
Think about all the combinations of yes or no you could have answered that question with, day to day wasn’t one of them…just sayin
Since I know you are very concerned ;), Leghumper, you will be relieved to know that SDS misquoted CBN. What he actually said was “does that mean he’s 100%? I don’t necessarily — soft tissue is a very subjective issue. I think it’s day-to-day. But we do anticipate him practicing today.” I hope that helps!
Absolutely that helps, thx. Should have remembered rule number one gfa, we don’t come to SDS for quality of the articles. Accuracy in reporting is way overrated
This site excels at stating the obvious.
I would love for Lagway to play, but not if he’s going to aggravate the injury. Praying for wisdom for him and the medical staff to make the best decision for his well being.
