Paul Finebaum has been talking about the performance of Hugh Freeze and the Auburn Tigers the last few weeks, and things are getting worse after the 17-7 loss this past week to Vanderbilt.

With the loss, the Tigers are 3-6 on the season and 1-5 in SEC play. They are currently on a streak of losing at least 5 SEC games in 4 consecutive seasons, which hasn’t happened at Auburn since 1927-1930.

These struggles have the fanbase obviously getting frustrated and worried about where the program is going. Finebaum said on McElroy and Cubelic in the Morning that the fan support is getting more and more jaded early Monday.

“I think they’re mortified at the record but there’s a double-edge to that where they’re being sold this bill of goods by Hugh Freeze and his superiors,” Finebaum said. “I can only tell you what I experienced when I was down there a couple of weeks ago, and all I was told was how bad the situation was.”

With games still to end the season against Texas A&M and Alabama, things could get even tougher to end the year. While Finebaum doesn’t necessarily think a move is made in the off-season, he does think Freeze will be on the hot seat next year.

“He needs to be given some time,” Finebaum said. “How much time I think is really an open question. At the rate that he’s going, he’ll begin next season on one of the hottest seats I’ve seen at Auburn or anywhere in a really long time.
