Dak Prescott suffered a hamstring injury in the Dallas Cowboys’ game against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 9, and he missed the last game against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 10.

There had been a lot of talk about how long he was going to be out, but we now have an answer. During a spot on 105.3 The Fan, Jerry Jones confirmed the quarterback would be having surgery and will miss the rest of the 2024 season.

“He’ll have it there in New York. He had a good visit last night and he wants to do that there, and he’s got great medical doctors up there,” Jones said. “His prognosis is wonderful, it just means we’re not going to have him the rest of the year.”

Prescott on the season has thrown for 1,978 yards, 11 touchdowns and 8 interceptions.

The former Mississippi State star signed a record-breaking contract on opening day this season with a 4-year, $240 million contract with $231 million of that guaranteed.

Cooper Rush filled in last week for Prescott, and he finished 13-of-23 for 45 yards. Former No. 3 pick Trey Lance also got some playing time, and this does give the Cowboys the opportunity to give Lance extended playing time as well.

The Cowboys will be back in action against the Houston Texans in Week 11.
