Arkansas fans flame secondary, defense after 5-TD outing from Jordan Watkins
This Arkansas secondary is having a game to forget.
Jordan Watkins, on the other hand, is not. The Ole Miss wide receiver, who entered Week 10 with just 2 TD receptions on the year, scored 5 touchdowns through the first 3 quarters of action Saturday in Fayetteville. His line currently sits at 8 receptions for 254 yards and 8 touchdowns.
The thing is, Ole Miss is outdoing Arkansas through the air even without Watkins – Dart has thrown for 507 yards compared to Taylen Green and Malachi Singleton’s 249 passing yards. That’s rough.
Because of Dart’s efficiency through the air Ole Miss leads 56-24 with just over 10 minutes still remaining. Obviously, fans online are not happy with this performance.
Here are a few of the best reactions to Arkansas’ awful defensive showing against the Rebels:
This is absolute crap. That’s 5 TD catches for Watkins. FIVE!! How can you let a guy who had 4 TDs be that open? Just pathetic. 56-17 Rebels with a LOT of time left. 4:48 in the third quarter. I’ve seen some bad stuff in this place over the years. This is up there with the worst

Arkansas’ defense getting absolutely worked today.

Ole Miss WR Jordan Watkins has 8 catches for 254 yards and 5 TD today against Arkansas. That’s the most receiving yards and touchdowns ever allowed to a player in a single game by the Razorbacks.

Maybe the Big 12 has room for one more. Hogs just getting left behind in SEC football. Not being mean, face the facts.
Bringing in A&M, TX and OU to the SEC has killed Arkansas’ recruiting base. Couple that with bad coaching hires and here we are.
Being the westernmost SEC team used to be leverage for texas recruits. Is it any wonder Arkansas has been terrible in recruiting since A&M joined? It will only get worse from here.
Agree with that post. With Texas and Oklahoma now in league.. recruiting gonna get even harder. Them and Miss St and even Kentucky are getting lapped
In spite of MSU and Kentucky have bad years, they have a much longer SEC history. And you’re right about Okie and Texas making Arkansas even more irrelevant. They never managed to develop a rivalry game or two like even Missouri has been able to do.
We’ve had some good years. Yea, we’ve been down a while. If you look at other sports, Ark represents the SEC well. Won’t always be like this.
Some good years? Arkansas has 3 ten win seasons in the last 30 years!! Arkansas will always be a lower level SEC team.
You are right. Arkansas has never had a true rivalry game. It is a small state and the Hogs are the only team in town. The biggest rival Arkansas fans ever had was Texas, but it was one sided. Texas already had A&M and OK. These phony made up rivalries with LSU and MO are a joke.
Harding Bisons are the defending D2 national champs, represent the state well and are the BEST team in the state of Arkansas.
It’s sad
Guess it’s time for a change, as much as it sucks to go through that process.
Exactly with whom in the SEC has Mo developed a rivalry?
Kentucky. Missouri fans have said that’s their rivalry game more than Arkansas could ever be. It’s what their fans would say if you asked them. And over the years that both have been in the SEC, Missouri is far and away the better fit for football as far as being competitive.
All the Hog fans are complaining about the secondary being horrible. Can anyone remember when it was good? Maybe in the 80’s when they had Steve Atwater?
All I remember is a couple decent years with Houston Nutt and the same with Petrino. One is out of football and the other may have seen the game pass him by but it’s hard to figure. Petrino collapsed at Louisville, Missouri State was a parking spot for a career and one year under Fisher. With Arkansas it’s just hard to say, may not be fair to judge him on this season because the Hogs just can’t get the guns they need, not even the O Line which was suppose to be Pittman’s specialty. I don’t know. But it reminds me a lot of Kentucky over the years when it was so often “welp, basketball is almost here thank goodness”. If conferences were all broken up to form a “super” power league, would BB be enough to include them? I certainly wouldn’t make a guess. As we all know, football rules.
I would not include them in any “super” power league that included football. Petrino and Nutt had some big wins over ranked teams like LSU and Texas, but their pass defenses always seemed weak, but not like this year. Under Nutt they gave up 203.5 passing yards per game and under Petrino 208.4. As of last night, Pittman is averaging 247.5 per game and that include getting torched by really bad Auburn and Miss. St. offenses. I am glad to be SEC too, but Arkansas sucks once again.
Exactly!!
