Florida issues statement regarding Todd Golden's status for game vs. Grambling
Florida issued a statement regarding head basketball coach Todd Golden Sunday night following a report of serious accusations against the head coach.
On Friday, it was reported that Golden was being accused by an “undefined number” of women for sexual harassment and repeated instances of stalking. Golden addressed that report on Saturday in a statement and said he was engaged with an attorney about a potential defamation suit.
Sunday night, Florida issued a brief statement confirming Golden’s status to begin the week. According to that statement, Golden’s status as the head basketball coach “has not changed” at this point in time.
Florida will face Grambling in a nonconference matchup Monday night, and Golden will coach the Gators in that game.
Update from Gainesville: “Todd Golden’s status as UF men’s basketball coach has not changed,” according to a University Athletic Association spokesperson. Golden will coach Monday night’s game vs. Grambling State. He’s been the subject of an investigation since late September.

Florida is 2-0 on the young season. We will see how the situation involving Golden develops moving forward.
Looks as if Mr. Strickland has one heck of a mess to clean up for his head Basketball coach. You would think that this investigation has been going on for a month or more. What is the hold up? Mr Todd Golden must have been smart enough to use a burner phone.Even if he deleted all his info on his everyday phone there would be ways to tell if that’s what he did.
Just my point of view there may not be the evidence to back this claim up. If it is a he said /she said without any evidence then coach golden is innocent until proven guilty . If these claims are found to be creditable then both golden and Stricklan should both be fired immediately. I am a little shocked he is not on leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
Mediocre Mike would never have gotten into such a mess…
All kidding aside, I agree gf8115. Suspended with pay until cleared by investigation seemed like the right call but if Strickland is letting him coach, one would think there is lack of damming evidence. This is going to be interesting to watch play out…
Hump,
No i aggree MM is a big family guy so I could not see him in anything like this. If he is coaching and this is found to be credible Stricklan must be fired immediately with golden. All jokes aside I don’t want to see someone destroyed esp if no evidence is presented. Prayers for the truth to come out .
Perhaps Golden has dirt on Strickland.
Good point. Maybe it wasn’t Brylcream Todd’s johnson he took pix of…lol
Maybe we should let this play out until the accusations can either be confirmed or dismissed. If anything he could recluse himself until such time but to fire or suspend him now would be premature
Ok let’s go with your side of the argument. Perhaps Kirby should have let RaRa and Colbie play while their female assault charges were vetted out, after all, losing them has left our wide receiver room in total disarray…or
Sometimes the optics are so bad that the smart thing is to suspend and let the legal process run its course…this situation with Brylcream Todd just has that same situational feeling, you know what I mean palley? I hope he’s innocent, others he’s one big dummy
There is a big difference between criminal charges and Title IX charges. One requires probable cause that a crime has been committed, this probable cause is obtained through a police reports, witness statements, physical evidence, and other things. The other, the Title IX complaint only needs a person to file a formal complaint. They need not show, or have, any evidence that the complaint is fact based.
The essential due-process difference between Criminal Law and Administrative Law. I’m sure he will still be able to offer rebuttal information with or without counsel, but following conclusion the case may or may not be picked-up by law enforcement? The other question I have is whether or not, if found administratively in violation, is it the individual, institution/employer, or both who is subject to tort liability?
What tidefan said and besides I would assume UF sat Todd down and asked him if he was guilty as accused and that he said no I am not. Your pups are criminal and their crimes are well documented giving Kirby no choice but to act, Todd’s case is different but nice try anyways
You left out the part where the accuser said the police charges were not what she reported and that she wanted the charges dropped, but ok, let’s go with Todd’s case being different. I agree, it is very different…and weird…and creepy…and
All I got is…..ugh! Stricklin has his potential second perv staffer. I was so excited for basketball this year. We cant have nice things. Why isnt Golden playing Rioux? Stick him in there as a presence on defense.
We don’t need no stinking trial. I say hang him right now; if nobody else will do it, me and Hump will–I’ll show him how. We need to honor the pristine innocense of our precious young girls. If you want to help, email Hump.
Absolutely! My email address is leeland AT hangemhigh dot comm
I like the way you think leeland why didn’t anyone else think about this
I don’t know why you are tying so hard to be leeland’s best friend, there’s only room for one of us and it ain’t you.
Disappointing that SDS is deleting comments on this story…
