Kirk Herbstreit rips fans for throwing trash on field during LSU game: 'Enough's enough, clowns'
Kirk Herbstreit sparred no feelings during the third quarter of Saturday’s LSU-Alabama game when trash was thrown on the field causing the game to be delayed.
In what has become a recurring problem in college football, the officiating crew threw a flag the home fans didn’t agree with and, in a bid to delay the game, LSU fans showered one of the endzones with bottles and other debris.
While LSU staffers worked to clear the endzone, Herbstreit torched the participating fans.
“Why has that had to become a thing this year? Some idiots do this at Texas and now all of a sudden we see it popping up in college football,” Herbstreit said during the game broadcast. “Enough’s enough, clowns. What are you doing?
“This is just stupid. Just embarrassing to LSU, it’s embarrassing to college football. Just, around the country, enough’s enough.”

The penalty that drew the ire of the fanbase came on a third-down sack of Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe. Bradyn Swinson and Sai’vion Jones got to Milroe to bring him down for a loss and kill the Alabama drive on the Tide’s own side of the 50, but a facemask penalty was called on Jones that not only extended the drive, but pushed Alabama across midfield.
Milroe scored 4 plays later on a 19-yard keeper to put Alabama up 28-6.
Here’s the facemask call:

On Oct. 19, fans in Austin successfully overturned a questionable pass interference penalty in the game between Texas and Georgia by throwing trash onto the field and delaying the game. During the delay, the officiating crew got together and decided to pick up the penalty.
In the weeks since, similar incidents have popped up all across the country.
Keep it up and they’ll go back to no beer sales. The field storming is over the top too.
Ha-sure. They’ll ditch all that money from alcohol sales. Let’s be real, the fans could flay the refs alive and those AD’s and weak @ss Sankey aren’t taking alcohol revenue.
You’re apparently unaware that beer sales in SEC stadiums has only been a thing for the last three or four years.
I’m aware that money in the door isn’t going back out. But you wanna pretend they’re going to 18th amendment LSU of all places, go and believe. Also, let me know when Santa and the Easter Bunny will be visiting your house.
Alcohol sale is the choice of the school, not the League. Auburn and Georgia still don’t offer alcohol in the football stadiums.
Rockytopper, UGA does sell beer in stadium. This is first year
Like NIL money beer sales are not going away.
Has he never been to an LSU home game?
As well he should. With the crowds storming fields, throwing things on the field and just plain poor behavior, they are going to come to a point where there is a large fence between the fans and the field.
Her street is 100% correct. Enough is enough.
If january 6th 2021 is now a love fest, then so is this…can’t have it both ways..keep throwing fans..
I agree delandman, now you go play the role of Ashli Babbitt!
Are you surprised the snowflakes in Austin threw a fit and acted bookish? Not me.
Embarrassing, and even more so considering those pssies in austin did it first
They disagreed with THAT call?
When it leads to a flag being picked up, worth a shot! Blame the refs in the UT UGA game.
The field storming needs to stop too. Including LSU after OMiss… just sad
hey its LSU, what did you expect – surprised the few remaining LSU fans did not rush the field after they FINALLY scored a meningless TD with less than a minute to go –
The refs rewarded Texas for pulling this stunt, so if you want to blame anyone for this getting out of control, I’d start there. They should have penalized Texas and threatened to forfeit the game and this would have never become a major problem.
Cleary a face mask. What were they so mad about?
They were about getting waxed. It manifested at that time.
